For me, there is no better way to celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month than to enjoy a Fourplay concert. We are talking about four remarkable musicians on one stage for a night of smooth jazz who can literally take your breath away. As noted for their individual jazz accomplishments as they are as a group, the four collaborate to create a sound superbly crafted and soothing to the soul.

‘Esprit De Four’ Passes the Audiophile Audition

The group Fourplay is no new name to the contemporary jazz arena having been around since 1991 and currently employing Bob James (keyboards), Nathan East (bass, vocals), Chuck Loeb (guitars, synths) and Harvey Mason (drums, percussion, vibes & synth). Since 2008 they have released three albums on the Heads Up label. I mention this because I’ve always been impressed with this label’s attention to detail when it comes to producing good sound—i.e. audiophile quality.
